I’ve 30 years’ experience as a Human Resources Adviser, working in a variety of organisations and industries in South Wales, including the University of Glamorgan, British Airways Maintenance Cardiff, (BAMC), Corus, Legal and General and Norgine Ltd. I’m also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

During the 1990’s, I developed an interest in stress management. Part of my HR role was to develop and run leadership and interpersonal skills courses for managers and staff and I began to include stress management courses within my training portfolio.

I wanted to learn more about the links between stress and behaviours, so attended evening classes at Coleg Glan Hafren in 1996 where I took an A Level in Psychology. I also completed a counselling skills training course at Newport College.

As my interest in health psychology and understanding of behaviours continued to grow, my HR roles allowed me to become more involved in supporting staff who were experiencing stress-related symptoms. I was able to help them develop techniques and strategies to make long term changes in their lives.

By 2003, I was so fascinated by the different ways individuals can change their thoughts and behaviours I decided to train as a Life Skills and Performance Coach. I obtained a Practitioner Coaching Diploma with Noble Manhattan, who were registered in 1993 and are the longest established coaching training company in the world, trading in 26 countries. Their courses are endorsed by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).

I use my coaching skills at every opportunity both in the workplace and to support friends. My techniques were further enhanced when I qualified as a Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming with the Academy for Higher Achievers (AHA), a Stafford based training company. NLP explores the possibilities of changing the behaviours that are ‘programmed’ in us at an early age and gives people techniques to change and develop to reach their full potential.

NLP, is said by many, to harness the most accessible, positive and useful aspects of modern psychology, and can enhance virtually every aspect of our lives, including communications, our influencing skills and increase our self-awareness.

Following coaching, clients can change their patterns of behaviours, develop clarity in decision making, experience greater feelings of control over life and work and develop the confidence to fulfil their true potential.
